Many devt projects hampered by bureaucracy
KENINGAU, Jan 17 (The Borneo Post) --
Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) supreme council member Datuk Bernard
Maraat yesterday said many developments in the state were
not carried out accordingly due to too much bureaucracy.
“In some cases they were not done completely and as a result,
money allocated was not used.
“What a waste and the end users suffers,” he told the Borneo
Post here while welcoming the idea mooted by Chief Minister
Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman who wanted a special task force
to be set up to monitor the integrity of civil servants
in this state.
On Wednesday, Musa, after chairing the Committee on Total
Management (CTM) meeting at Wisma Innoprise at Kota Kinabalu
said that a special task force would be set up to monitor
the integrity of civil servants in state programmes, especially
in implementing development projects in Sabah.
He said the state Integrity Monitoring Task Force would
be headed by Sabah Public Services Department Director Datuk
Nordin Siman and would include among others, officers from
the State Public Services Department, Malaysian Anti-Corruption
Commission, State Public Complaints Bureau and Chief Minister’s
Department’s Integrity Management Unit.
“It will start operating as soon as possible as we have
identified officers who will be in the task force.” He said.
Meanwhile, Bernard who represented PBS Sook and Nabawan
said that Musa was concerned and serious in ensuring all
delivery systems in the state civil services played their
roles and responsibilities .
He said government servants and government aided agencies
must serve and work as corporate entities.
“PBS Sook has set up its own Research, Development and
Complaints Bureau to ensure project developments in the
area were carried out efficiently and effectively,” he said.
He said the Barisan Nasional (BN) government was serious
in tackling the people’s wellbeing in this state.
In another development Bernard, who is also PBS Sook divisional
chief, said Pensiangan PBS, comprising Sook and Nabawan,
wants party president Datuk Seri Panglima Joseph Pairin
Kitingan to continue to serve the parliamentary constituency
of Keningau and the people of Sabah.
“DAP can say whatever they want but Pairin is formidable
enough to encounter any onslaught, be it any party or DAP
for that matter,” he said.
He said the majority of the people of Sabah still loved
Pairin and obviously would garner behind him whatever the
cause.
“Requesting Pairin to quit as this time around is unbecoming;
wait for the 13th general election, you’ll have your chance
to prove DAP’s strength.
