No contest likely for PBS top posts
KOTA KINABALU, Aug 25 (The Borneo Post)
-- The top posts in Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) are likely
to be uncontested.
The party’s information chief Johnny Mositun said responses
from the grassroots showed that Datuk Seri Panglima Joseph
Pairin Kitingan’s position as PBS president is secure.
“But then again, it is up to the delegates …we would know
when the nomination papers are issued to all divisions in
October,” he said.
All nomination papers must reach the headquarters before
the party’s congress, scheduled to be held in November.
No date has been fixed yet.
Mositun, however, said contests were likely for the five
vice-president’s posts, adding: “Many are eyeing for the
posts.” To date, he said, the party was still in the midst
of having divisional meetings.
“There are 60 divisions in Sabah and one in Labuan.
Of the figure, so far, 35 divisions have conducted their
meetings,” he said.
No obstacle or problem was reported this time around.
“It is just the divisional meetings and the nominations
are just for the Supreme Council,” said Mositun.
