Pairin Asks Kadazan-Dusun, Murut Communities To
Support 1Malaysia Concept
KOTA KINABALU, May 3 (Bernama) -- Deputy
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan urged all
Sabahans, especially the Kadazan-Dusun and Murut (KDM) communities
to give full support to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib
Tun Razak and his "1Malaysia" concept.
He said the concept would require the cooperation and involvement
of all Malaysians, including the support of minority ethnic
groups.
"The two communities play an equally important role
as other races in the country to realise the concept and
they need to maximise their capacity," he said at the
launching of the Kuala Penyu Harvest Festival in Kampung
Bundu, near here, today.
Pairin said the Prime Minister's unexpected presence at
the Klang Valley Harvest Festival celebrations at the Putra
World Trade Centre (PWTC) several days ago demonstrated
that he cared and was sensitive towards their aspirations.
"Even with his busy schedule, Najib was willing to
spend some time to join in the Harvest Festival celebrations.
This is a good sign and proof that the two communities are
not being neglected," said Pairin, who is also president
of the Sabah Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA).
He said the Harvest Festival was an important event which
helped foster closer ties among the people irrespective
of religious or political differences.
