PBS plan to set up Kelab Bersatu across p'sula
KOTA KINABALU, Dec 2 (Daily Express) --
The Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Youth movement is contemplating
setting up a "Kelab Bersatu" (United Club) in
various areas in the peninsula where Sabahan youths are
concentrated.
Its Chief, Datuk Jahid Jahim, who was returned unopposed
at the recently-concluded PBS Youth annual meeting, said
this was among plans raised at the movement's first meeting
in Penampang last Friday.
"PBS Youth realised there is big potential to work
with the big number of Sabahan youths working in Semenanjung
and are coming back to vote when the general election comes,"
he said in a statement, Tuesday.
Jahid who is also Youth and Sports Assistant Minister said
PBS Youth also planned to play a more active role in disseminating
information on opportunities in training, business as well
as job opportunities.
"We also decided to form a Career and Training Bureau
as well as ICT Bureau under our Youth movement so that we
would not only disseminate information but also train our
youth leaders to optimise the use of Internet including
on cyber-war," he said.
"It was also raised at the meeting that PBS Youth
should engage more with relevant groups such as non-governmental
organisations (NGOs) and student societies in institutions
of higher learning," he said.
The Tamparuli Assemblyman said PBS Youth also set its target
on doubling the party's youth membership by encouraging
each existing member to recruit at least one new member
next year.
Meanwhile, Jahid is expected to announce the appointment
of the movement's secretary, treasurer and information chief
as well as their respective assistants and four nominated
central youth exco positions soon.
